What's your background?

After earning my S-SI baccalaureate, I enrolled in the PTSI-PT preparatory program at Lycée Rouvière in Toulon. This track was the best fit for me, as it is the science-focused preparatory program with the strongest emphasis on industrial engineering sciences. In fact, I had really enjoyed this field in high school because of its practical focus on product design and the critical thinking skills it helped me develop.
After completing these two years of preparatory studies, I enrolled at ENS Paris-Saclay. Coming from the PT track, I took the SAPHIRE program, which is common to all three engineering science departments.
Upon completing this program, I had the option to enter the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or the Nikola Tesla Department (Electrical Engineering).

I chose to continue my studies in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The program covers a wide range of topics, with one area focusing on the behavior of materials and structures and another on manufacturing, which addresses production processes and automated systems.

I completed my first year of the master’s program, which focused on the mechanics of materials and structures. My first year of the Master’s program in mechanical engineering allowed me to broaden my scientific knowledge and discover the world of research through projects and an internship.
During that year, I realized I had a strong interest in the field of numerical simulation in mechanics. This involves predicting the behavior of a structure by developing computational codes or using software. I find it very interesting to use powerful numerical tools to study a structure, particularly in cases where it is not possible to conduct experiments or where doing so would be prohibitively expensive.

I then continued on to the second year of the FESup master’s program.

Why did you choose the M2 FESUP program?

When I was in preparatory classes, I quickly became interested in ENS Paris Saclay, which—unlike an engineering school—allowed me to acquire high-level scientific knowledge in a specific field while training for a career in teaching. In fact, I am passionate about combining my career as a scientist with the transmission of knowledge. So it was only natural that I chose to enroll in the Master 2 FESup program for my third year at ENS Paris-Saclay.
Preparing for the agrégation exam allowed me to strengthen my knowledge of industrial sciences, but it was the pedagogical aspect of the program that I appreciated the most. This enabled me to learn how to design courses for a wide variety of educational programs.

What message would you like to share with students who are hesitant about coming to ENS Paris-Saclay?

It’s hard to plan for the future when you’re a student in a preparatory program, so it’s important to research the academic tracks and career paths offered by a school in order to find the one where you’ll thrive the most. ENS Paris-Saclay offers a wide range of programs, and as a result, career opportunities are diverse. In addition, students have the freedom to choose the program that best suits them, whether in terms of selecting a specific year of study or pursuing a Master’s 2 in research, with a wide selection of master’s programs available.
For those interested in pursuing a career in teaching, I highly recommend the M2 FESup program. Although it is a challenging program, the guidance provided by the high-quality teaching staff is designed to help us succeed on the competitive exam. In fact, I finished in second place!
